The Department’s main research areas (applied and theoretical) are: data analysis, the global economy, economic growth and development, game theory, and management research methods. Our teachers and students present their research results at the major academic conferences in Russia and abroad and publish them in leading Russian and international peer-reviewed journals. The Department started its regular academic seminar in October 2014. There is also a city seminar on economic-mathematical methods and modelling.
Students specialising in relevant subjects join in the work at the HSE International Center for Market Studies and Spatial Economics, the research laboratories at the St Petersburg RAS Economics Mathematical Institute, academic teaching group ‘Economics of Housing’ and groups set up by teachers to investigate the psychology of decision making, network economics, theory of endogenous growth, global economics and others. The Department plans to run international research conferences and will organise sections on economics and econometrics at conferences at the School of Economics and Management.
