About the Department
The Department of Economics boasts a diverse staff. It brings together experienced professors in theoretical and applied economics as well as young teachers, educated at the best Russian and international universities who use new technology in the learning process and develop innovative teaching approaches.
Winner of the L. V. Kantorovich Prize, Professor Elena B. Yanovskaya, Professors Sergei Kadochnikov, Boris Korneichuk, Alexander Skorobogatov, Doctor of Science A. A. Muravyov (European University in Florence).
The main criteria for selecting staff is their research work. Teachers at the Department are constantly publishing in peer-reviewed international journals listed in the Scopus and Web of Science databases and in leading Russian journals.
The Department focuses on devising courses in econometrics and other methods of working with data - we aim to give each student the knowledge, contemporary tools and practical skills to put her/him in a firm and advantageous position on the job market. The Department’s aim is to foster attentive relationships with every student, regardless of her/his research level or whether it is for second year course work or finals. As a result of this careful guidance, students from our Department win competitions, attend olympiads and conferences and many participate in study abroad programmes. Together with their research supervisors, students publish their results in academic journals and carry on to post-graduate programmes at HSE and top ranking international universities.
