Abstract

The course is aimed at acquirement basic knowledge and competences of modern Italian language, including phonetics, graphics, normative grammar and vocabulary in the amount provided by the course. The course consists of tutorials (64 hours). Tutorials or practice run provide students with basic knowledge of phonetics, intonation, pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary of modern German and focus on practical activities and exercises as well as project work. The tutorials also involve feedback on students’ written work, aimed at developing basic linguistic knowledge and practical skills of Korean presenting the project results and home-reading in the written and oral forms.

Learning Objectives

To make simple dialogs and to conduct a monologue on a given topic;
To support a conversation and to write simple essays on a specified topic;
To use vocabulary and the necessary grammar on the topic;
To organize a discussion: establish communication and react, ask for a person and respond, ask to start a story, introduce a story topic, organize information, interrupt;
To give and ask for personal and object information, give and ask for information about reasons and causes, the information about the time and about purposes;
To describe and narrate: locate objects in a space, identify people, talk about other people, describe connections and similarities, describe the development of an action in the present, narrate present events, a daily routine, describe and compare objects, describe and physically compare people and personalities;
To express opinions, attitudes and knowledge: argue, express and justify an opinion, agree, disagree, evaluate an idea and a fact, assess relationships, express the cause, consequence and purpose, difficulty;
To express tastes, desires and emotions: talk about tastes, preferences and feelings, intentions and projects, express interest, surprise, disgust and gratefulness, physical sensations, pain or annoyance;

Expected Learning Outcomes

Create texts in writing of a descriptive nature (from 100 to 350 words depending on the level of the task, correctly designed in terms of language) based on the information provided (exact data, reference words, drawings, diagrams and other images), illuminating the questions asked, based on a specific plan of presentation and using elements of the assumption;
Recognize and reproduce lexical and grammatical structures of the Italian language of level A2.2 in accordance with the communicative task.
Recognize and apply the basic rules of Italian graphics and spelling, normative pronunciation and speech rate, taking into account the features of the articulation base of the Italian language.
Understand the rules and structure of writing letters/messages of a personal and semi-official nature, filling out forms and apply them in practice in situational contexts of level A2.2.
Extract information from authentic texts of level A2.2, including those presented in the form of audio or video sequence, interpret it/react to it in accordance with the communicative task.
Request information and formulate a response to the request for information orally and in writing in situational contexts of level A2.2.
Build an unprepared monological/dialogical statement in situational contexts of level A2.2 based on the information provided (visual series, statement, quote, support words) with elements of assumption, setting out and briefly arguing your point of view, indicating causal relationships.

Assessment Elements

Homework
Homework is offered to the Students during all the semester and it can be 5-12 Homeworks in one Module. Homework includes phonetic, listening, vocabulary and grammar assignments and can include different exercises and activities based on the material of the course. Students take this Homework individually. There is no change in the final accumulated assessment for the reporting period for the “homework” block. “Homework” is taken into account in the first/second retake with the same weight;
Classroom work
Written and oral assignments based on group linguistic assignments, unprepared oral speech, lexical and grammatical complexes of exercises, audio and video materials, essays and presentations offered to students for performing directly at the lesson and based on the material of the course – 12 work per course Individual presentations: involves the creation of a presentation - individually. Essays: essay is written on the main topics of the thematic plan, the topics of essays are formulated by the teacher, every essay must contain at least 150- 250 words (during the first semester of study) and 200-350 words (during the second and third semester of study) There is no change in the final cumulative assessment for the reporting period in the “classroom work” block. “Classroom work” is taken into account at the first/second retake with the same weight.
Written tests
written lexical and grammatical tests based on various types of authentic tasks developed by HSE teachers based on course materials, for which the student is given 1-3 academic hours, are performed directly in class – 4-8 works per course. There is no change in the total accumulated assessment for the reporting period in the “Written tests” block. “Written tests “are taken into account at the first/second retake with the same weight.
Final Exam
An examination test takes place 5-10 days before the oral part of the exam. In some cases, depending on the curriculum, this time period may be shortened, due to the fact that the final, examination test is held in the last two lessons of the course. The test includes reading, grammar, vocabulary, listening and writing parts. 4 hours for the test. The final test consists of 5-10 parts and includes vocabulary and grammar writing assignments.
Oral answer (Exam)
A complex or mono task involving an oral response and corresponding to the thematic plan of the course. May include description of images, protection of level presentations, development of a monologue based on specially developed methodological materials, etc., depending on the choice of the course instructor and should be compiled in full accordance with the level of complexity of the studied program. The teacher has the right to ask additional questions. Exam format: teacher in class, students in class. During the exam, students are forbidden to: communicate (on social networks, with people in the room), use notes, tips, phones, smart-watches, write them off. During the exam, students are allowed to: use a blank Word sheet to record a short answer. A short-term communication failure during the exam is considered a communication failure of less than a minute. A long-term communication disruption during an exam is a violation of a minute or more. In case of a long-term communication disruption, the student cannot continue to participate in the exam.
