Abstract

The course is aimed at acquirement basic knowledge and competences of modern Spanish language (А2.2), including phonetics, graphics, normative grammar and vocabulary in the amount provided by the course. The aim of studying is also to enable students to develop proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish and focus on practical activities and exercises as well as project work. It aims to foster intercultural competence and provide students with the ability to communicate effectively in Spanish-speaking environments, both orally and in writing. Additionally, the study of a second foreign language can enhance cognitive abilities, improve memory and problem-solving skills, and broaden cultural horizons.

Learning Objectives

Complex formation and development of communication skills in the field of speaking, listening, reading and writing in various communication situations at the A2.2 level;
Formation and development of linguistic competence aimed at mastering grammatical, orthographic, lexical and grammatical language means on the basis of authentic material at the A2.2 level;
Development of cognitive and research skills when using resources in a foreign language in order to search for and systematize the necessary information at the A2.2 level;
Development of educational and cognitive competence, formation of skills and abilities of independent work, including using information technologies, increasing the level of educational autonomy and developing individual effective strategies for performing educational tasks, readiness to comply with the established deadlines for reporting on the course, development of the ability to educate oneself.

Expected Learning Outcomes

Recognize and apply the basic rules of Spanish graphics and spelling, normative pronunciation and speech rate, taking into account the features of the articulation base of the Spanish language.
Extract information from authentic texts of level A2.2, including those presented in the form of audio or video sequence, interpret it/react to it in accordance with the communicative task.
Request information and formulate a response to the request for information orally and in writing in situational contexts of level A2.2.
Build an unprepared monological/dialogical statement in situational contexts of level A2.2 based on the information provided (visual series, statement, quote, support words) with elements of assumption, setting out and briefly arguing your point of view, indicating causal relationships.
To recognize and reproduce lexical and grammatical structures of the Spanish language of level A2.2 in accordance with the communicative task.
To understand the rules and structure of writing messages of a personal and semi-official nature, filling out forms and apply them in practice in situational contexts of level A2.2.
To create texts in writing of a descriptive nature (from 100 to 150 words depending on the level of the task, correctly designed in terms of language) based on the information provided (exact data, reference words, drawings, diagrams and other images), illuminating the questions asked, based on a specific plan of presentation and using elements of the assumption;

Assessment Elements

Exam, written part
Written lexico-grammatical control work carried out in the last lessons of the 2nd module and based on various types of authentic tasks developed by HSE teachers that correspond to the thematic course plan, for the implementation of which the student is given 2-3 academic hours.
Work in class
Written and oral assignments based on group linguistic assignments, unprepared oral speech, lexical and grammatical complexes of exercises, audio and video materials, essays and presentations offered to students for performing directly at the lesson and based on the material of the course - 9-12 works per course. Individual presentations: involves the creation of a presentation - individually. • Essays: essay is written on the main topics of the thematic plan, the topics of essays are formulated by the teacher, every essay must contain at least 150- 250 words.
Exam, oral part
A complex or mono-task, involving an oral answer and corresponding to the thematic plan of the course. May include description of images, protection of level presentations, development of a monologue based on specially developed methodological materials, etc., depending on the choice of the course instructor and should be compiled in full accordance with the level of complexity of the studied program. The time allotted to answer each student is 15 minutes. It may take 15 minutes to preview the task. It is held within the terms of the main session established by the Training Office of the Program. Accumulated points for 1- 2 modules are not canceled.
Written tests
Written lexico-grammatical control works based on various types of authentic tasks developed by HSE teachers on the basis of course materials, for which the student is given 2-3 academic hours, are performed directly on the lesson – 3-5 works per course.
Homework
current assignments for various types of speech activities based on written, oral, audio and video materials and their combinations, including assignments, aimed at preparing for current, modular and examination works, which are performed by the student independently and checked by the teacher throughout the course and asynchronously, based on the course material and may vary slightly depending on the individual characteristics of the group (complexes of lexico-grammatical exercises, prepared monologues and dialogues, phonetic exercises, etc.).
