Course Syllabus

Abstract

Дисциплина «Второй иностранный язык» (итальянский) включает в себя: вводный курс, в рамках которого изучаются правила чтения и произношения, и основной курс, предполагающий выполнение различных типов заданий, направленных на формирование навыков устной и письменной коммуникации, чтения текстов, аудирования, грамматических компетенций. Успешное освоение дисциплины позволяет изучить итальянский язык на уровне B1 согласно международной классификации CEFR, достаточном для решения основных повседневных коммуникативных задач, таких как устное и письменное общение на иностранном языке, чтение и перевод текстов общего характера.

Learning Objectives

• Achieve A1.2 communicative competence: master basic language skills for everyday, cultural, and professional interactions with Italian speakers.
• Handle socio-communicative tasks: solve practical communication needs across personal, cultural, and work-related scenarios.
• Build foundational language skills: develop essential abilities for continued Italian study and simple real-life use.

Expected Learning Outcomes

• Reproduce and recognize basic vocabulary (at least 500 words at A1 level) and grammatical structures at A1 level.
• Understand differences between basic grammatical structures and rules of their usage, as well as distinguish parts of speech and their functions in a sentence.
• Apply studied lexical and grammatical structures to compose and comprehend monologues (10-20 sentences) and dialogues (10-20 utterances) on professional-everyday topics at A1 level.
• Analyze information in a text (150–250 words) or audio track (1–1.5 minutes), identifying the main idea, key details, and answering questions on the content.
• In the process of exam preparation, evaluate one's own ability to answer questions on the main topics of the course according to given criteria, as well as knowledge of grammar and vocabulary (when preparing for the written part).
• Create a detailed and logical monologue on studied topics and effectively sustain oral communication by giving spontaneous, substantive, and grammatically correct answers to clarifying questions from the teacher on the same topic.

Assessment Elements

• Homework
  Homework is offered to the Students during all the semester and it can be 5-8 Homeworks in one Module. Homework includes phonetic, listening, vocabulary and grammar assignments and can include different exercises and activities based on the material of the course. Students take this Homework individually.
• Exam
  The final exam consists of a written test and an oral answer (monologue/picture description/answering the teacher’s questions).
• Classroom work
  Written and oral assignments based on group linguistic assignments, unprepared oral speech, lexical and grammatical complexes of exercises, audio and video materials, essays and presentations offered to students for performing directly at the lesson and based on the material of the course - 9-12 works per course. Individual presentations: involves the creation of a presentation - individually. • Essays: essay is written on the main topics of the thematic plan, the topics of essays are formulated by the teacher, every essay must contain 100-150-200 words (based on the level).
• Test
  Written lexical and grammatical tests based on various types of authentic tasks developed by HSE teachers based on course materials, for which the student is given 1-3 academic hours, are performed directly in class - 4-8 works per course.

  0.2 * Classroom work + 0.4 * Exam + 0.15 * Homework + 0.25 * Test
