The Department of Management was set up in 2014 on the basis of the Faculty of Management and is a part of the School of Economics and Management which brings together economists and managers. The distinguishing feature of this department is the limited combination of theoretical science, applied science and close interaction with the real economic sector.

Quantitative Techniques for Economics and Management (QTEM) is the consortium of business schools which appeared in 2012 as a response to international business demand for managers, who are capable not only to develop strategies but also to apply analytical tools in taking a decision.
The consortium unites universities, where analytic techniques from finance and economics are actively used for teaching. QTEM consortium has such academic partners as Polytechnic University of Milan, Technical University of Munich, BI Norwegian Business School, Free University of Brussels, Harbin Institute of Technology, University of Amsterdam, and other universities. HSE University - Moscow and HSE University - St. Petersburg became the consortium partners in 2017, and they remain the only consortium members from Russia.
Besides universities, corporate partners represented by large international business interested in innovative approach development are also QTEM members. Such companies as Ernst&Young, Deloitte, McKinsey, and Volkswagen are among corporate partners of the consortium.
The corporate partnership agreement between QTEM, HSE University - St. Petersburg and PJSC Rostelecom was signed on November 22. Within a framework of the partnership, joint training of world-class business analysts is anticipated. Rostelecom is willing to participate in the work of consortium by providing internships and job positions to QTEM programme students. Corporate partners, in turn, gain access to a database of students and become rightful members of the academic community.
