All facets of logistics and supply chain management: field classes for HSE students at JSC 'Container Terminal St. Petersburg' and LLC 'STD Petrovich'

43 students of the bachelor's programme 'Logistics and Supply Chain Management' and the master's programme 'Strategic Management in Logistics' at the Higher School of Economics - St. Petersburg were given the opportunity to get acquainted with such characteristics of  JSC 'Container Terminal St. Petersburg' and LLC 'STD Petrovich' as infrastructure, work technology, transportation and handling equipment.

'Container terminal St. Petersburg' is the largest terminal in Russia (In 2017 CTSP was ranked as the number one terminal in St. Petersburg and Russia in terms of the volume handled - 643700 TEU). In January-September 2019, JSC Container Terminal St. Petersburg processed 581.6 thousand TEUs; in the first 9 months of 2019, maintained the leading position in container handling among stevedore companies of the Russian Federation.

Students admitted to the territory of 'Container Terminal St. Petersburg' after fulfilling the requirements of the customs and border services of the Russian Federation were able to see the technological chain for processing export-import cargo, including container ships, mooring cranes and reach stackers, a mobile customs inspection and inspection complex as well as they were able to learn about the terms of processing containers, about the features of the formation of KPI of various services, the requirements of customs authorities, the advantages of Russian terminals, optical recognition systems for numbers, the main directions of increasing the efficiency of the company. This and many other students were told by Yana Pavlovna Myakinen, Deputy Commercial Director of 'Container Terminal St. Petersburg'.

Deputy Director for Logistics of 'STD Petrovich' M.M. Rats talked about the features of the company. The company's assortment includes more than 27 thousand items of building materials. 'STD Petrovich' positions itself as an omnichannel retailer, which distinguishes it from most competitors. 'STD Petrovich' remains the fastest growing player in the DIY market (according to INFOLine) and the largest Russian retailer of goods for construction and repair. In 2017, its turnover grew by 22%, and in 2018 the company managed to reach a record its history indicators: to increment to 30.55% (instead of the planned 20%) with revenues of 49.3 billion rubles.
