On May 23rd, 2018, Konstantinos Afantitis(Logistics Director of Chipita Russia (7days Croissant)) gave a speech to the 1st year masters of the «Strategic Management of Logistics» program at HSE St. Petersburg.
Mr. Afantitis spoke about the features of the supply chains of goods with a limited shelf life formation: the specifics of relations with suppliers; organization of work, so as not to tell customers: “No, we will not have time to make so many products”; the volume of stocks that ensure stable production; the prospects of robotization in warehouses; relationships with large customers and much more.
According to the director of logistics of the company Chipita Russia, the main challenges today are:
- long-term logistics partners (pricing, contract honoring etc.);
- lifetime management (short cycle food products);
- a continuous search for new partners;
- tenders;
- warehouse management (batch management, lifetimes, SAP).
Since most of the masters of the «Strategic Management of Logistics» program successfully work in well-known logistics companies, the lecture turned into an exchange of opinions (and even in a discussion) on a wide range of issues, moderated by Ph.D., professor of logistics and UCP Anna V. Strimovskaya.
We thank Mr. Konstantinos Afantitis for a very interesting story and look forward to it in the next academic year.
