CHEMP new publication

CHEMP is pleased to announce that last week the Journal of Population Ageing published online, on an Open Access basis, an article by Prof. Christopher Davis entitled The Changing Capabilities of Cohorts of the Elderly in Russia during 1990-2020: Measurement using a Quantitative Index.

Chris started work on this article in the summer of 2012, partially in response to his experiences at a conference on “The Elderly as an Asset” at the Rockefeller Center on Lake Bellagio in the US. His article argues that the human capabilities (human capital) of the elderly in Russia have been improving since a low point in 1995. It contains index measurements of the human capital of the birth cohorts of 1930, 1935, 1940, 1950 and 1960 when they turned (will turn) 60 in 1990, 1995, 2000, 2010 and 2020.
