First HSE St. Petersburg course in Health Economics begins....
In January 2016, the first official bachelors course in Health Economics began at the St. Petersburg campus of HSE. The course provides an extensive introduction to the main themes of contemporary Health Economics, will run for 9 weeks and has almost 50 Economics finalists enrolled on it.
Commenting on the course, Professor Christopher Gerry,
Head of the International Centre for Health Economics, Management and Policy (CHEMP) at HSE, notedAlthough Health Economics is in its infancy in Russia the need for it could hardly be greater. There is a dramatic shortage of scholars, policy makers, public health officials and clinicians with knowledge of the health economy. This course represents just a small part of our much more ambitious project to address this shortage. I am looking forward to building on this through our research, education and outreach initiatives, including through continuing to offer internships in CHEMP to students wishing to deepen their knowledge and experience of health economics
