The course is aimed at acquirement basic knowledge and competences of modern French language (А1), including phonetics, graphics, normative grammar and vocabulary in the amount provided by the course. The aim of studying is also to enable students to develop proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in French and focus on practical activities and exercises as well as project work. It aims to foster intercultural competence and provide students with the ability to communicate effectively in French-speaking environments, both orally and in writing. Additionally, the study of a second foreign language can enhance cognitive abilities, improve memory and problem-solving skills, and broaden cultural horizons.
Learning Objectives
Сomplex formation and development of communication skills in the field of speaking, listening, reading and writing in various communication situations at the A1 level.
Formation and development of linguistic competence aimed at mastering grammatical, orthographic, lexical and grammatical language means on the basis of authentic material at the A1 level.
Development of cognitive and research skills when using resources in a foreign language in order to search for and systematize the necessary information at the A1 level.
Development of educational and cognitive competence, formation of skills and abilities of independent work, including using information technologies, increasing the level of educational autonomy and developing individual effective strategies for performing educational tasks, readiness to comply with the established deadlines for reporting on the course, development of the ability to educate oneself.

Homework
Homework is offered to the Students during all the semester and it can be 5-8 Homeworks in one Module. Homework includes phonetic, listening, vocabulary and grammar assignments and can include different exercises and activities based on the material of the course. Students take this Homework individually.
Exam
An examination test takes place 5-10 days before the oral part of the exam. In some cases, depending on the curriculum, this time period may be shortened, due to the fact that the final, examination test is held in the last two lessons of the course. The test includes reading, grammar, vocabulary, listening and writing parts. 4 hours for the test. The final test consists of 5-10 parts and includes vocabulary and grammar writing assignments.
A complex or mono task involving an oral response and corresponding to the thematic plan of the course. May include description of images, protection of level presentations, development of a monologue based on specially developed methodological materials, etc., depending on the choice of the course instructor and should be compiled in full accordance with the level of complexity of the studied program. The teacher has the right to ask additional questions. Exam format: teacher in class, students in class. During the exam, students are forbidden to: communicate (on social networks, with people in the room), use notes, tips, phones, smart-watches, write them off. During the exam, students are allowed to: use a blank Word sheet to record a short answer. A short-term communication failure during the exam is considered a communication failure of less than a minute. A long-term communication disruption during an exam is a violation of a minute or more. In case of a long-term communication disruption, the student cannot continue to participate in the exam.
Test
Written lexical and grammatical tests based on various types of authentic tasks developed by HSE teachers based on course materials, for which the student is given 1-3 academic hours, are performed directly in class - 4-8 works per course.
Classroom work
Written and oral assignments based on group linguistic assignments, unprepared oral speech, lexical and grammatical complexes of exercises, audio and video materials, essays and presentations offered to students for performing directly at the lesson and based on the material of the course - 9-12 works per course.
