Abstract

The course is devoted to the study of mathematical methods and models that allow to find optimal management strategies in business, public administration and other areas of human activity. This course focuses on the quantitative modeling process itself, which allows students to analyze complex problems arising in business management systems. The presentation of the course is based on a systematic study of certain classes of optimization problems and solving numerous examples from various areas of economics and management.
Learning Objectives

Learning Objectives

  • - to gain knowledge of the basic techniques of mathematical modeling in the problems of constructing an optimal solution; - to gain knowledge how to formulate and formalize the main classes of optimization problems; - to instill practical skills in the use of mathematical and quantitative methods in optimization problems.
Expected Learning Outcomes

Expected Learning Outcomes

  • the student has the skills to analyze practical management problems and build a mathematical model in optimization problems
  • the student knows the main quantitative methods of solving problems of linear, integer and nonlinear optimization, knows the conditions for their correct application
  • the student has a practical experience in formalizing optimization problems of the considered classes (formulation of the mathematical model of the problem), creating a computer model of the problem (quantitative model in MS Excel), conducting numerical modeling and analyzing the obtained results
