Course Syllabus

Abstract

The course provides theoretical framework and practical insights into global business. This is a "big picture" course. It is designed to provide students with a general overview of the major areas of global business. The course is designed to introduce global business in historic retrospective up to the modern changes in the global business landscape such as the COVID-19 pandemic, which has pummelled the global economy and caused the unprecedented business crisis looms. The course addresses the impact of the covid-19 pandemic on the global business environment and data highlights of pandemic's economic impact and investors’ responses. The successful completion of the course will increase students' capacity to think globally about a company, its business position on international markets, cross-cultural issues and possible sustainable competitive advantage in rapidly changing global business environment.

Assessment Elements

Assessment Elements

  • non-blocking In-Class Activity
    In-class activities includes different online activities, including assignments both team-based and individual, case studies, problem discussions.
  • non-blocking Test
    The Test will be conducted in the written form - multiple-choice test. The Test questions are based on the lectures’ and seminars’ material available to students through the LMS. It includes 20 questions with 4 possible answers.
  • non-blocking Final Test
    The Final Test is administered at the end of the second module. It will be conducted in the written form - multiple-choice test. The Final Test is based upon the lectures’ and seminars’ material. It includes 40 questions with 4 possible answers. The duration of the Final Test is 40 minutes. Students whose accumulated intermediate assessment is 8 – 10 points for three assessment elements (0.25 * In-Class Activity + 0.25 * Test + 0.25 * Team Project) are not required to pass the Final Test. In this case, the accumulated grade (O accum.) could be counted as the final grade (O final) upon the student’s decision. The rounding method of examination and the resulting estimates is arithmetic.
