Abstract

The General Course Curriculum "Law" is a digital course developed by the Faculty of Law at the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE) in collaboration with the leading law firm Forward Legal. This unique educational product is created at the intersection of academic expertise, modern technology, and the needs of modern civil society. The course is the result of the work of a broad team of authors, including faculty from relevant departments of the HSE Faculty of Law, practicing lawyers, digital learning specialists, and educational solutions designers. The program includes 15 thematic units covering key aspects of modern law: from the concepts of legal personality, government bodies, and the court system to family and labor law, administrative procedures, liability, and entrepreneurship. Considerable attention is paid to applied issues: rights in the digital environment, personal data protection, legal regulation of artificial intelligence, advertising, mechanisms for interacting with the government, and legal self-defense skills. The course consists of three blocks: • Block 1 (Fundamentals of Law); • Block 2 (Law for Everyone); • Block 3 (optional: legal literacy in professional activities; elective module depending on the focus of the educational program). The training is built on the principles of modularity and flexibility: the basic module provides fundamental knowledge of law and its institutions; the variable module allows for tailoring the training to the student's professional specialization; the flexible format combines video lectures, resource sheets, interactive longreads, case studies, discussion assignments, and gamification elements. The course is taught in a blended format, where students take an online lecture course, attend seminars (in-person or remotely), and take an exam (in-person or remotely). The course consists of lectures and seminars. The course requires students to participate in seminar activities and complete midterm assessments (tests on the topics covered). There are no blocking assessments. Upon completion of the course, students take a final exam in the form of a test covering all the material covered. The discipline is taught in educational programs of non-legal specialties in which instruction is conducted in Russian or in Russian and English.
