Second seminar on the RSF project has been conducted.

The second seminar was dedicated to the discussion over the central notions which will sociologists will have to work with within the framework of the project. Participants of the seminar prepared presentations prolonging the previous discussions in the field of migration studies and studies of ethnicity, in subcultural, post-subcultural studies, conceptualization of intercultural contact in the context of theories of modernization and post-modernism, all of that was summarized with previous research experience of the Center for Youth Studies at similar issues: the study of stereotypes and xenophobia among young people, as well as an overview of existing State projects in the field of development of tolerance among young people. The workshop formulated a working tool and a plan of further activity. 



The following two seminars, which were held on 15 and 31 July were devoted directly to the development of the project methodology, namely  the formation of working hypotheses of quantitative research. The methodological part of the project involves a quantitative research in universities and colleges in four cities: St. Petersburg, Ulyanovsk, Kazan, Makhachkala. In each location it is planned to interview 800 people. A complete cycle of study in Ulyanovsk and St. Petersburg has already planned for this autumn, it means that there 1,600 people must be surveyed, 60 interviews to be conducted, as well as focus groups and expert interviews are needed to be taken. Therefore, the third and fourth seminar was devoted to discussion of instruments, as well as the logistics of the project, as in September a pilot study should be started.
