The Department of Management was set up in 2014 on the basis of the Faculty of Management and is a part of the School of Economics and Management which brings together economists and managers. The distinguishing feature of this department is the limited combination of theoretical science, applied science and close interaction with the real economic sector.

Elena Serova also attended the Connected Cities research group meeting at the University of Greenwich. The main goal of this group is collaboration bringing academic researchers from various backgrounds and disciplines in one group. The work of this new research group focuses on integration and bringing together various applications and services together in a coherent way by incorporating and advancing the concept of circular economy by bringing in the strengths and expertise of individual members in strategic management, system dynamics, neo-institutional theory, social network theory and decision analysis.
