Student of the Department of Middle Eastern and African Studies won the prize at the MGIMO Professional Translation Competition

Irina Shishova, a 5th year student, won the prize in the section of Arabic Business Writing at the International Competition of Professionally Oriented Translation. Congratulations! The Arabic language programme at the Department of Middle Eastern and African Studies for undergraduate students includes a number of specialized courses aimed at developing practical translation skills in various spheres - from classical poetry to media communication, commercial documents and business correspondence.

The competition received 1,369 translations from 885 students from 16 countries.

The translations were evaluated by a highly qualified jury consisting of university professors, experienced practising translators, managers and employees of companies operating in the language services market. The Arabic language section was represented for the first time at this competition.
