About the Department

The Department of Media is a new research and educational division of the St. Petersburg School of Arts and Humanities, HSE University in St. Petersburg. The department is focused on the training of highly qualified personnel capable of becoming influential players in the modern labor market.

The Department of Media aims to provide high-quality system support for the educational and research processes of the Master's programme in Media Production and Media Analysis, the Bachelor's programme in Media Communications, as well as additional education programs.

Educational projects in media should become a point of reflection, discussion, development of understanding in a rapidly changing environment for both practitioners and the research community as a whole.

The Department of Media should become an analytical, educational center in northwest Russia by organizing and participating in specialized conferences, increasing publication activity in "Media and Communications" subject area, including political, sociological, historical media analyzes, reports on the local and thematic media market.

The HSE University in St. Petersburg Department of Media is meant to be a leader in educational and expert media activities in the Russian media landscape. It is intended to become a leading platform for talent training and for shaping general trends in the media industry development.
