Head of Department of Philology Professor G. Witte has been elected as a member of Academia Europaea

Academia Europaea is a European, non-governmental association acting as an Academy, uniting leading European scientists from all academic disciplines. The Academia Europaea was established in 1988 with the aim to promote learning, education, and research throughout the world.
Current membership stands at around 4,500. Amongst them are seventy-two Nobel Laureates, several of whom were elected to the Academia before they received the
prize. The Academia Europaea has published the 'European Review' (ER) since 1993 on behalf of members and in conjunction with the Cambridge University Press (Since 1998). The European Review is published six times per year. It is a fully peer-reviewed international journal.
