Course Syllabus

Abstract

The course is aimed at acquirement basic knowledge and competences of modern Spanish language (А1.2), including phonetics, graphics, normative grammar and vocabulary in the amount provided by the course. The aim of studying is also to enable students to develop proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish and focus on practical activities and exercises as well as project work. It aims to foster intercultural competence and provide students with the ability to communicate effectively in Spanish-speaking environments, both orally and in writing. Additionally, the study of a second foreign language can enhance cognitive abilities, improve memory and problem-solving skills, and broaden cultural horizons.

  • To learn and demonstrate skills of conducting conversation and dialogue in Spanish language in typical situations in the amount provided by this course.
  • To report the results of the information retrieval and analysis, academic or applied research she/he has conducted in various genres according to level A1+.
  • To conduct professional activities internationally in Spanish.

  • To socialize: greet, say hello, say goodbye, introduce him/herself to someone (formal and informal), apologize, congratulate someone.
  • To give and ask for personal and object information, give and ask for information about reasons, talk about recent and long-standing past, about regularly recurring actions in the past.
  • To talk about plans, about developing events.
  • To make dialogs and to conduct a monologue on a given topic at A1.2 level.
  • To support a conversation and to write simple essays on a specified topic at A1.2 level.
  • To use vocabulary and the necessary grammar on the topic at A1.2 level.
  • To organize a discussion at A1.2 level.
  • To express opinions, attitudes and knowledge: argue, express and justify an opinion, agree, disagree, evaluate an idea and a fact.

    current assignments for various types of speech activities based on written, oral, audio and video materials and their combinations, including assignments, aimed at preparing for current, modular and examination works, which are performed by the student independently and checked by the teacher throughout the course and asynchronously, based on the course material and may vary slightly depending on the individual characteristics of the group (complexes of lexico-grammatical exercises, prepared monologues and dialogues, phonetic exercises, etc.).
  • non-blocking Work in class
    Written and oral assignments based on individual or group linguistic assignments, prepared and unprepared oral speech, lexico-grammatical complexes of exercises, audio and video materials, essays (with or without home preparation) and based on course material - 5-10 works per course, presentations, prepared monologues and dialogues.

    Written lexico-grammatical control works based on various types of authentic tasks developed by HSE teachers on the basis of course materials, for which the student is given 2-3 academic hours, are performed directly on the lesson – 3-5 works per course.

    Written lexico-grammatical control work carried out in the last lessons of the 2nd module and based on various types of authentic tasks developed by HSE teachers that correspond to the thematic course plan, for the implementation of which the student is given 2-3 academic hours.
  • Partially blocks (final) grade/grade calculation Exam, oral part
    A complex or mono-task, involving an oral answer and corresponding to the thematic plan of the course. May include description of images, protection of level presentations, development of a monologue based on specially developed methodological materials, etc., depending on the choice of the course instructor and should be compiled in full accordance with the level of complexity of the studied program. The time allotted to answer each student is 15 minutes. It may take 15 minutes to preview the task. It is held within the terms of the main session established by the Training Office of the Program. Accumulated points for 1- 2 modules are not canceled.
