About "Expert Day"

The International Expert Day will gather leading researchers and practitioners not only from Russia and Malaysia but also from other countries to discuss the potential and role of social enterprises in addressing pressing social issues. The event's program includes two sections: "Science" and "Practice," which will feature the latest research and successful case studies of social entrepreneurs from various countries. During the conference, the Russian-Malaysian Satellite Lab on Social Entrepreneurship will present a report on the results of its project, which focuses on studying successful cases in Russia and Malaysia and the challenges encountered in this field, as well as prospects for future research. Special attention will be given to networking, providing a unique opportunity for experience sharing and collaborative initiatives among academics, government representatives, businesses, and civil society organizations. The conference will last one day and serve as a platform for interaction and mutual learning among participants.

    The first session of the Expert Day, entitled "Social Impact in the Modern Era: Exploring the Potential of Social Entrepreneurship," promises to be an engaging and informative discussion about the research support for social entrepreneurship and its transformative power in contemporary society. The session is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the latest findings from the satellite laboratory, as well as the outcomes of other research initiatives in the field of social entrepreneurship.

    Report Presentation: The session will begin with a detailed presentation of the research project results conducted by leading experts in the field from the satellite laboratory. This presentation is intended as a foundation for further discussion and will include key findings from the analysis, highlighting the measurable impact of social entrepreneurship on various societal challenges.

    Report Discussion: Following the presentation, there will be a general discussion of the report. This segment will allow participants to delve deeper into the methodology, results, and implications of the research, fostering critical examination of the data and conclusions presented.

    Speakers' Presentations: After the discussion, there will be presentations by invited speakers, during which thought leaders and practitioners in the field of social entrepreneurship will share their experiences, innovative approaches, and success stories.     Questions to Speakers and General Discussion: The session will conclude with a question and answer segment, giving participants the opportunity to interact directly with the speakers.     Abstract for Session 2: Practice

    This practice-oriented session is designed to bridge theory with practice by providing a comprehensive platform for learning, discussion, and idea exchange among policymakers, support agencies, and social entrepreneurs. Through this engaging and informative session, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the practical aspects of promoting and implementing social entrepreneurship initiatives.

    The second session of our Expert Day, titled "Practice," is devoted to the real-world implementation of social entrepreneurship and includes presentations from government bodies and support infrastructure, as well as discussions of actual practices of social entrepreneurship and experience sharing. The session aims to demonstrate the current landscape and efforts directed at developing social entrepreneurship, including the role of public policy and institutional support in facilitating the launch of social enterprises, as well as the real experiences of the recipients of this support.

    Government and Infrastructure Presentations: Representatives from government agencies and infrastructure organizations supporting social entrepreneurship will discuss their initiatives, policies, and programs designed to strengthen the ecosystem of social entrepreneurship. These presentations will provide insights into the regulatory and support frameworks that enable social enterprises to thrive.

    Presentations by Social Entrepreneurs: Social entrepreneurs will share their experiences, challenges, and successes. Their personal stories will highlight innovative practices, sustainable business models, and the impact of their work on communities. This session is designed to give social entrepreneurs a platform to share their experiences and demonstrate practical examples of social entrepreneurship in action.

    Questions and General Discussion: The session will conclude with another round of questions and a general discussion, providing further opportunities for interaction between participants and speakers. This dialogue will facilitate networking, idea exchange, and discussions of potential collaborations that may arise from the insights shared during the session.

The Satellite Lab – a joint project of the Reputation Management in Education Lab (RepLab) at the National Research University Higher School of Economics St. Petersburg and the ACT Lab at the Azman Hashim International Business School of the University of Technology Malaysia (UTM) – was established in 2024 to develop a scientific approach and conduct research in the field of social entrepreneurship. This unique partnership combines both institutions' expertise to advance social entrepreneurship through rigorous research and cross-regional analysis.

The collaborative project "Reflecting Impact: A Cross-Regional Analysis of Social Entrepreneurship in Malaysia and Russia" is a pioneering initiative dedicated to comprehensively analyzing social entrepreneurship in two distinct but dynamically developing regions – Russia and Malaysia. It aims to reflect on the profound impact of social enterprises in these countries, providing valuable insights, promoting development, and facilitating cooperation.
