Internship opportunities for Arabists in the Sultanate of Oman
Milana Iliushina, Head of the Department of Middle Eastern and African Studies, visited the Sultanate of Oman as part of an official delegation from HSE University. The colleagues negotiated with Rahma bint Ibrahim Al Mahrouki, Minister of Education of Oman, on key areas of cooperation. They also met with the management of Nizwa University and Sultan Qaboos University in Muscat.
Arabic, the mother tongue of more than 500 million people, is at the heart of the educational model of the Department of Middle Eastern and African Studies. An internship in the country of the language studied is an important part of the programme. For this reason, in May 2024, the Rector of HSE University, Professor Nikita Anisimov, and the Rector of Nizwa University, Professor Ahmad Al Rawahi, signed a cooperation agreement that opens up broad prospects for the development of the internship system.
During the visit of the official delegation from HSE University to Nizwa University, Milana Iliushina, Head of the Department of Middle Eastern and African Studies, discussed in detail with Salim Al Hinai, Director of the Department of Arabic Language, and Sulaiman Al Husaini, Director of the Centre for Humanitarian Studies, the possibilities of internships for Arabist students in Nizwa and plans for academic cooperation.
