STUDENT MOBILITY TO CHINA'S UNIVERSITIES. STUDENT MOBILITY FROM CHINA

At the end of November, the HSE – Saint Petersburg hosted a new meeting from the “Culture Café” series which was focused on Russian-Chinese student mobility. Russian students talked about their experience of studying and living in China, and Chinese students who came to HSE on mobility shared information about the cities they live in, their universities, as well as their impressions of Saint Petersburg and HSE.

I think it's important that the event featured not only HSE students' stories about mobility, life and study in China, but also those of Chinese exchange students who are going through a similar experience in Russia. As a result, there is a clear idea that student mobility is a two-way road where all participants, moving along their trajectories in mirrored situations, create some kind of interaction that ensures both personal development and interpersonal, interuniversity, interstate relations.

It was interesting to listen to students from other faculties focused on gaining a different experience in universities in China compared to students of Asian and African studies, who see their main task as deepening Chinese studies training. I reckon that this information is also very relevant for our bachelor students and will be useful when planning the future, should they continue their studies in various master's programmes.

I would also like to point out the pleasant, lively atmosphere of this meeting: everyone felt very at ease, it was interesting and fun!

More details about the event can be found on the page of the Study Abroad Opportunities Department, HSE SPb on the social network VK.
