The Institute of Russian Literature (The Pushkin House) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, founded in 1905, currently is the largest world center for the study of Russian literature and one of the main archives of the creative heritage of Russian writers, scientists, and cultural figures. The Pushkin House conducts fundamental scientific research of the history of Russian literature, its international relations, children's literature, textual criticism and source study, prepares and publishes academic collections of works by Russian writers of the 18th – 20th centuries. Much attention is given to the development of electronic sources on the history of Russian literature, the formation of electronic libraries, manuals, databases.
The Join Department of the Pushkin House at the HSE University St. Petersburg is created to bring out students to academic work and professional orientation of graduates; the department provides students with the opportunity to define and develop their own scientific work skills during the studies.
