Seminar on Latin Paleography

The first seminar on Latin paleography on the basis of SSG took place on February 23, 2018.

On the basis of the History Department of the Higher School of Economics in St. Petersburg an optional Latin Paleography course related to the activities of the NUG began for all interested students. Members of the scientific and study group take part directly in the seminar sessions.
Within the framework of the seminar the project manager Evgeny A. Khvalkov introduced participants all basic ground of paleography, analyzed the main problems of external and internal criticism of sources, as well as with the peculiarities of the late and classical Revival manuscripts in Italy. Also the participants touched the issues of translation, the features of publication and the problems of contextualization of medieval manuscripts.
