Workshop “Entrepreneurs, media and companies”

On the 29 of April on the regular meeting of the Research Group, Olga Dornostup and Alena Suvorova will discuss their ongoing research about how nascent entrepreneurs use social online networks for accumulating a social capital and for presenting their projects. In addition, their study raises a question of how such an activity in online profile can affect a potential success of start-ups.

At the last seminar of the Research Group in April, a 3rd year student of the Faculty of Economics, Olga Dornostup together with Alena Suvorova, presented about the current results of their research. They told about how startuppers use social online networks for accumulating a social capital and for presenting their projects. Their study also raised the question of how the potential success of start-ups can be related to the such an activity of their creators in a social online network (Vk.com).
At the end of the presentation, the seminar participants discussed the advantages and disadvantages of the methods used in the work, and also talked about promising directions for the further development of the current study.

Being a second-year student, it was very interesting for me to listen to Olga. The topic is interesting and, of course, relevant. However I mostly liked methods she used - the analysis of social networks, whereas many, especially at our age, use only regression, not observing the most important prerequisites or missing multicollinearity or endogenity"
