Course Syllabus

Abstract

The course provides students with a basic understanding of the evolution of cultural processes and aesthetic principles in design. During the course, students will get acquainted with the basic concepts and concepts in the field of culture and design of the XX-XXI centuries, take part in discussions about the problems and phenomena of modern culture from modern philosophy to genre cinema. Studying the course will contribute to the development of the ability to independently search for the necessary visual material to solve design problems, and to form their own aesthetic views. The student will acquire the skills of independent and balanced critical judgments about the works of modern design, attribution of works of modern design, as well as the use of information resources: modern information technologies and graphic editors for the implementation and creation of documentation for design projects. The scope of knowledge gained during the course, extremely wide. This knowledge can be used later in the study of the discipline of Creative Design.

  • The objectives of mastering the discipline "Modern Design" is the formation of students basic knowledge in the field of culture and design XX-XXI centuries. The discipline "Modern Design" is designed to form a basic understanding of the evolution of cultural processes and aesthetic principles in design.

  • The student is able to work with information: find, evaluate and use information from various sources necessary for solving scientific and professional problems (including on the basis of a systematic approach)
  • The student is able to critically evaluate and rethink the accumulated experience (own and others), to reflect professional and social activities
  • The student is able to understand various types, genres, styles of fine, decorative and applied art and design
  • The student is able to determine promising trends in the design and transformation of modern artistic ideas, methods and tools in order to introduce them into professional activities
