Why this course?

The course 'Russian Winter Fairytale' offers 'festive' language material to develop your speaking skills. The course is designed for students who only start learning the Russian language as well as for those who have already studied it before. 

The classes are based on various texts (educational and fictional as well as media ones) related to traditions of winter holidays in Russia: you will learn new lexical and grammatical constructions and language models while experiencing the most mysterious season—the Russian carnival winter.   

Contents of the course

According to your language proficiency, we will offer you a comprehensive intensive course in the Russian language which will help you to explore Russian grammar and excite you with intimate conversations and songs about the Russian winter.   

Skills and Competences

If students start learning Russian from scratch, they get the hang of basic verbal skills for day-to-day communication. Those who have studied the Russian Language before will be able to improve previously acquired skills and proficiency in using it in social and professional spheres.

Prerequisites

The course has no prerequisites. Students get to complete in-person placement test in order to be assign to a particular group of Russian language proficiency (А2-В1, В2-С1).

Teaching method

Highly professional professors of the Russian language as the second language carefully select the educational materials. As the main teaching technique, they use a communicative approach and create situations of real communication during the classes. The professors offer functional grammar and written and oral tasks designed to improve grammar skills in your speech. With the help of authentic text, audio and video materials as well as interesting creative tasks, they introduce students to a unique national cultural context and this is how they reach the main goal of the studies—full-fledged communication in Russian. 

Final exam

As the final part of this course, the students are offered to prepare a presentation in Russian within the theme of the course.

Assessment

The final grade for the course is formed by the final exam (50%) and the grade for the ongoing work (50%).
