Abstract

The course "Design and Development of Automated Learning Systems (ALS)" introduces students to the main types of educational experience design and automated learning systems, their areas of application across various fields, the architecture of ALS, and the peculiarities of its design from the perspective of user-centered design concepts. The foundations of pedagogical design are presented, the relationship between the concepts of "educational experience" and "educational environment" is examined, and the primary methods of researching user experience (UX) are analyzed. Significant attention in the course is devoted to exploring key trends and practices related to the design of educational courses in the market.
Learning Objectives

Learning Objectives

  • To familiarize students with the key aspects of modern educational systems and courses, along with their main areas of application
  • To introduce the concepts of "educational experience" and "educational environment" and to study the primary approaches to their design
  • To familiarize students with the roles of producers, methodologists, and experts in the creation of educational products
  • To introduce the product-oriented approach in the development of modern ALS systems
  • To familiarize students with the areas of application of computational linguistics for ALS design
  • To present intriguing practical tasks in each of the discussed areas of ALS application and the approaches to solving them

Assessment Elements

Assessment Elements

  • non-blocking Report
The report presents the results of an independent critical analysis of a specific problem within the course framework. The report is submitted in the form of a presentation. At the end of the report, the student should formulate one or two questions for further discussion directed at the audience.
  • non-blocking Homework
Homework assignments consist of small practical tasks that students complete outside of the classroom. They are carried out in writing, individually, and not during class time. The completed assignment is submitted to the instructor via email.
