On October 17, the eighth session of the research seminar «Magic, Astrology, and Science in Russian Modernism» took place.

The Eighth Research Seminar «Magic, Astrology, and Science in Russian Modernism»

The meeting was devoted to the problem of interdisciplinary research, focusing on the history of the interaction of science and art. Building on articles by Lorraine Daston and Jonathan Crary from the classic volume «Picturing Science, Producing Art» (1998), edited by Caroline A. Jones and Peter Galison, seminar participants discussed different approaches to the history of the relationship between «natural» and «artificial», and the connections between mass visual practices and popular interest in the natural sciences in the early 20th century.
