The Second Research Seminar «Magic, Astrology, and Science in Russian Modernism»

In their presentation, Maria Fesenko and Nikita Kalinovsky raised the problem of the cultural reception of positivism, astronomy, and astrology at the beginning of the twentieth century. Based on an obscure fragment from Vasily Rozanov's «Three Horoscopes» («Apocalypse of Our Time», 1918), the speakers pointed out how this text argues with Auguste Comte’s positivist doctrine and gave a detailed commentary on the historical connection between astronomy and positivism.
