Intellectual Lab: Social Anthropology

The Academic Coordinator of the Intellectual Lab: Nikolay Ssorin-Chaikov, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Department of History.

The focus of the laboratory is the investigation of the impact of COVID-19 on contemporary sociality. What is "social" now, after the introduction of "social distance"?

The cases include transformations of sociality in the remote format of business work and domestic sociality (consumption, social organization of home space and health, ethnography of aging) and religiousness (communication and social space in church).

Participation in the Intellectual Lab in Social Anthropology implies the following project tasks:

  • identify informants and institutions under study;

  • conduct ethnographic research based on interviews and participant observation;

  • produce research report.
