Regional Planning and Development
Senior Bachelor and Master’s degree students in Economics, Urban/Regional Studies, Public Administration, Urban Planning are invited to take part in the session "Regional Planning and Development" within the framework of the International Student Research Conference.
The session brings together both young international and Russian scholars working in multiple disciplines in the fields of regional/urban planning and development.
At present, approaches to the elaboration and implementation of the Spatial Development Strategy of the Russian Federation are the focus of expert discussions as well as revisions of existing subnational strategic documents and the production of a new generation of them at regional and local levels. Expert discussions of these issues may involve young scholars as well as more well-known senior colleagues. Researchers in regional and urban planning and development, including international experts, have an important role in discussions of theoretical foundations and methodology for different types of planning and development and in providing the results of their empirical and theoretical research. The session agenda will not be limited only to planning techniques and analysis of particular plans and cases, but will include a wide range of research topics, related to regional and local economic growth and social and economic development. Papers illustrating knowledge of modern theory and the empirical results of studies on spatial transformations and regional/local economic success/failure factors are welcomed.
