Zack Snyder's Justice League

The 4-hour version of Justice League with Zack Snyder's vision is what fans have been fighting for over the years. But is this exactly what fans expected?

Zack Snyder's Justice League

The story of a Justice League begins with Zack Snyder leaving the project and Joss Whedon being hired by Warner Bros to reduce the length of the film from 3 to 2 hours. From here, fans began to fight for Zack Snyder's works to be produced. The released version is actually up to 4 hours with all the intentions of Zack Snyder.

What's good about the movie

A more complete story

One of the reasons the 2017 film turned catastrophic was the excessive cutting of the main content. Before Justice League hit theaters, only Superman / Clark Kent (Henry Cavill), Wonder Woman / Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) and Batman / Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) had their own story before.

The film must introduce three new superheroes: The Flash / Barry Allen (Ezra Miller), Aquaman / Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa) and Cyborg / Victor Stone (Ray Fisher). Not only that, the film also has to find a way to bring them together through the fight with Steppenwolf (Ciarán Hinds). The duration of only 2 hours makes the content discrete, changed a lot.

Darkseid (Ray Porter) was removed from the film to reduce complexity as well as "drop in line" for the sequel. The story of The Flash and Cyborg is greatly reduced. But in the Zack Snyder version, they are given a lot of time to develop their character. In particular, Cyborg became the center of the film thanks to the direct link to the Mother Box.

Many of the character's personalities have been completely corrected, according to what fans see about DC superheroes. The Flash is no longer a shy person, only knows "comedy" but always aims to overcome personal limits, contribute to the protection of the Earth. Batman is no longer "useless" but has a more calculating mind, assertive and trusting his teammates.

Aquaman is also less narcissistic, and he becomes more profound. The guy who considers himself not to be both on the ground and under the sea, but in fact is very interested in everyone around. Wonder Woman is back to the warrior quality that everyone loves. The process of reviving Superman becomes more sensible and less awkward.

Typical actions and images of Zack Snyder

DC fans must be no stranger to Zack Snyder's filmmaking style for many years. The director focuses on the slow-motion element to create beautiful, full of hidden frames or many stunning, detailed action scenes. Thanks to its release on the online system, the movie is also harder in the violent and bloody part.

Dark film color tone combined with light effects in the collision screen create spectacular scenes. The battle structure is unchanged, but both are longer and more fierce. The music also contributes to the climax. This is also how DC is differentiated from rival Marvel, which specializes in comedic and brighter movies.

Each character has its own stage to show strength. Batman fights with the Parademons with technology and "wealth". The Flash reverses time during critical moments. Cyborg dealing with Mother Box. Aquaman and Wonder Woman combined to fight Steppenwolf and Superman saved his lover at the right time. It's all like a song that fans have longed for.

In addition, Zack Snyder's Justice League does one thing that theaters can't - connect with other works, fulfilling Zack's vision. Batman's Knightmare scene shows Lois Lane (Amy Adams) dead and Superman being overpowered by Darkseid.

The earth quickly ended in the end, and he himself had to cooperate with evil villains such as Deathstroke (Joe Manganiello) and the Joker (Jared Leto). The Flash armor directly connects to the previous implications of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and opens the way to Justice League 2.

Something that might dissapoint you

In fact, Zack's Justice League has still quite a few minus points. The movie seems to be a too hasty move for Warner Bros to ask Justice League to hit theaters immediately to deal with the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) though many names have not been introduced. Even if it lasted for 4 hours, Cyborg or The Flash still caused confusion for the majority of the mass audience who did not know what DC was.

In addition, 4 hours is quite a long time for movie work. Zack Snyder seems to overdo slow-motion when many segments have no specific purpose. The film still has a long and complicated storyline like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice with much unnecessary dialogue. The soundtrack is not too impressive either.

In general, Zack Snyder's Justice League still has some shortcomings and limitations.

However, the movie has done as expected by fans. Above all, this is considered a victory for what DC fans have struggled with for the past 4 years to fully enjoy the vision of the director they trust.
