How To Celebrate Women’s International Day: 7 Places And Events In Moscow

The whole country celebrates International Women's Day on March 8th! I know where you can go on a day loike this.

Meshchersky Park

Celebrate international women's day in healthy style by running in a festive race in Meshchersky Park. Participants will be offered four distances: three kilometers (for women only), five kilometers, 10 kilometers and 21 kilometers. And at the end of the event all participants will get snacks! The race will start at 10:00.

Dali’s Exhibition in Manezh

What could be better than spending a festive evening at the main exhibition of the month (if not the year)? It seems to us that the large-scale exhibition of Salvador Dali in the Central Arena does not need advertising, but if you are in doubt: the exhibition includes more than 180 works by the great surrealist, as well as a cartoon created by Dali and Walt Disney – cartoon, which hadn’t been shown to the general public for a long time.

Ice rink on VDNH

The country's main ice rink closes on March 9, so the upcoming holiday weekend is the last chance for everyone to skate at VDNH. It will be even more fun than in winter — in honor of March 8, VDNH will organize a festive program, the details of which are still kept in secret by managers.

Retrospective of Guy Bourdin at the Center of Photography

Event for fans of art and modern photography: the Lumiere Brother’s Photography Center is currently hosting a retrospective of French fashion photographer Guy Bourdain. The exhibition includes more than 50 shots that forever changed the idea of women's beauty and glamorous photos.

Gorky Park

Gorky Park is interesting in itself: there are many cafes, restaurants, the amazing Garage Museum, a lot of sports sections, and much more. But there will be especially interesting on 8 March: the Park is preparing a festive program with contests and different entertainments – check it out!

«Russian fairy tale. From Vasnetsov till now» in the New Tretyakov Gallery

The first immersive project of the Tretyakov gallery – the exhibition «Russian fairy tale». Visitors will walk not through the usual exhibition space, but through the "fairy-tale environment" with artworks of famous Russian artists – to get out of there, everyone will have to choose their own «path», as in a real old Russian fairy tale.

Restaurants

Most Moscow’s restaurants celebrate International Women's Day with a special program and promotions! For example, restaurant «Velvet» near «Rechnoy vokzal» metro station present flowers and a glass of champagne for all women, in the cafe «Granatovy sad» will be held fun contests with prizes, in the Harvey & Monica restaurant will be presented the new album by Georgian singer Soso Pavliashvili and much more. Celebration starts on March 7!
