Website as a Part of Secondary School’s Organizational Culture (Based on Hofstede’s organizational culture Parameters)

Organizational websites represent essential characteristics of organizational cultures and therefore are defined their virtual dimension. There is a considerable body of research on organizational cultures and websites of general education institutions. However these two phenomena have not been discussed in comparison or in combination. The objective of the present research is to identify the relationship and conflicts between the organizational cultures and the websites of general education institutions on the basis of organizational culture parameters developed at the Hofstede Centre. The analysis is based on the sets of empirical data collected for organizational cultures and websites according to the unified methodology. The collected data allowed building parametric models of organizational cultures and the websitesof general education institutions, identify the overall degree of their correlation and correlation between particular parameters included in the models. The results of the research confirm the hypothesis raised initially, according to which the relation between websites and organizational cultures is characterized by major systemic and minor conflicts. It also reveals a degree of objectivity, regularity and intensity of representing different parameters of organizational cultures at the websites. Comparative analysis of the number website visitors and parametric models reveals the key factors related to the higher and lower values of website traffic. The results of the analysis allowed developing basic recommendations for building the content of school websites with the aim of a more uniform and objective representation of the characteristics of organizational cultures and increasing the attractiveness of websites for different groups of users.

Possible Compensation of Pupils’ Social Disparity in School

The graduation work is devoted to the problem of social disparity in school and its possible compensation. The purpose was to find management tools for compensation of pupils’social disparity in schoolresearchinginterdependencebetweenthe social status of the family and school results of the children. Methods we used are questionnaire(parents and teachers) andanalysis of normative documents. We found out that socio-economicstatus of the family doesn’t affect children’s school results. Butsocio-psychological, socio-cultural and social role status of the family affect the resultsgreatly. So state measures of social disparity compensation such as material support are not effective nowadays. School managers have to solve this problem. We also offer aset of management toolsfor compensation of pupils’social disparity in school. The results can be used in schools with the high level of pupils’ social disparity.

The Possibilities of Using Analytical Methods for Decision-Making in Children’s Ombudsmen’s Practice

Goal of the dissertationprojectis to determine the possibility of using analytical methods in a practical work of regional Ombudsmen for Children’s rights, providing complex changes in a childhood sphere. Practical part of the work represented in the designed and approved action algorythm for an Ombudsman for Children’s rights to develope specific proposals and recommendations in applied format and to take precautions to prevent possible risks of negative development of existing tendencies in a Children’s rights and interests protection sphere.Algorythm approbation showed that risk assessment methods help in choosing the best alternative in decision making. Besides, there was developed an analysis matrix for citizens’ appeals to reveal problems in a sphere of compliance and protection of Children’s rights in the «Education» branch, recommendations for using risk assessment methods in a practice of an Ombudsman and a structure of «Workbook for experts».

Career Orientations of Schoolchildren as the Factor of the Human Capital’s Formation

Argued the specification of this category at the level of general education and its restriction to the notion of «academic capital». The conceptual approaches to measuring human capital are considered. The relation of modern definitions of human capital with well-known descriptions of career orientations of the person is determined. Author reviewed conceptual approaches to measuring human capital, specified the relationship between the concepts of «human capital» and «career». The role of career orientation of the individual in building a career has been specified. Explained the selection of the questionnaire «Career Orientation Inventory» by E.H. Schein as a screening tool, which allows to determine awareness of the individual representations of the vector of further professional advancement. The version of its modification for use in the studied cohort of seniors is offered.

The analysis and subsequent interpretation of thequantitative data of the empirical part of the work were performed using parametric and nonparametric statistical methods. Based on the interpretation of the empirical part of the work conclusion is that the value of human capital of students, expressed in points of USE, does not depend on their orientation to the construction of a vertical or horizontal career.

The Determinancy of Culture of Health Saving in School

Poor health indicators of school youth are a pressing problem of our time. Given that today the Russian children spend most of their time at school, it can be assumed, that the education system is summoned to take an important part in solving the problem of preserving and strengthening the health of schoolchildren.

The author uses the term «health saving», in connection with which there is a research problem, associated with the understanding of the term in the context of the research topic. The author connects this term with a new understanding of health, with an emphasis on the importance of self-preservation behavior and «division» of responsibility for the preservation of health between the state institutions and the man himself.

In this connection, a special place is occupied by the individual’s culture of health saving as a condition of maintaining health. So the task associated with the ascertainment of which determinants (external and internal) have an impact on the formation of culture of health saving was formed.

The author offers three specific hypotheses, one of which was confirmed in a study: teachers are not significant adults for schoolchildren about questions of culture of health saving, and teachers do not consider themselves responsible for the formation of such culture.

The scientific novelty of this study is defined, first of all, by the novelty of its subject – the determinants of formation of culture of health saving in school. Besides obvious novelty of these results is that external determinants shows less influence on the formation of teacher’s culture of health saving than the internal, among which cultural family settings are relatively strong.

The results obtained in the course of the dissertation research can be used by heads of educational institutions to identify culture of health saving and behavioral practices of participants of educational relations, and also by researchers in the field of education for their own research papers on the formation of culture of health saving in school.

STYLE OF PRESCHOOL ORGANIZATION MANAGEMENTIN THE CONDITIONS OF CHANGES

The changes taking place in the educational system due to the shift from the concept of "demand" to the pre-school education to the concept of "standard" of pre-school education have led to the changes in the organization of educational process as well as in the management of the organization. Hence the director of an educational organization is a driving force which can turn a functioning preschool organization into the evolving one. Within the scope of master's thesis the analysis of theoretical approaches and studies in the management field has been carried out enabling us to give a tentative definition to the process of management in the phase of change. As to managing a team, the interconnection between managing practices and professional motivation of educators has been revealed. Having surveyed directors of educational organizations using the face-to-face method we have found current styles of making management decisions. The survey held among educators has allowed to find the most pronounced management component influencing the satisfaction which educators get from their professional activity. The key idea of the research is defining the way directors of educational organizations make management decisions in the time of changes boosting the professional motivation of educators.

EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION SOCIAL CAPITAL AS APPRENTICE TEACHERS ADAPTATION RESOURCE

In investigation we review problem of the apprentice teachers adaptation. Goal of the work is to investigate social capital influence on the adaptation of the apprentice teacher. Using the results of literature analysis, we defined social capital and ways to use it towards teacher`s community.

To reach the goals we select methods of measuring school's social capital and apprentice teacher's adaptation. Chosen methods [37, 41] permit us to estimate young teacher's adaptation. Using sociograms we find out how young teachers related to administration and other members of the community. Comparing that data, we made implications about the grade of school social capital influence on the apprentice teacher's adaptation.

Social and State Order in The Space of Non-Formal Education for Children.

The work has a scientific and an applied scientific research purpose.

The scientific research purpose is to identify the dependence of the ideas of social and state order informants about the children non-formal education services on the location of organizations.

The applied scientific research purpose is to compile information maps in the megalopolis area (in the inter-district context) according to the identified preferences of the subjects of interaction acting as informants of the state and social order.

The key participants of the educational process - children, teachers, parents and administrators - are the informants. Each group has their own requirements for children non-formal education and these requirements do not often coincide, but contradict each other. Moreover, the groups of “significant adults” have their own ideas about non-formal education development, and these ideas differ depending on the location of children additional education organizations.

The revealed differences allowed us to develop information maps of adults’ and children’s preferences in each district of St. Petersburg.

The findings of the work can be useful for making management decisions at the city level and at the district level.
