On May 19, the Laboratory for Reputation Management in Education at HSE University – St. Petersburg presented the Russian-language edition of a book on social entrepreneurship in Russia and Malaysia. The presentation took place as part of the international conference "The Human-Centered University: Forging the Fifth-Generation University through Social Mission, Entrepreneurship, and the Solidarity Economy".
The book was developed through the Satellite Laboratory on Social Entrepreneurship, a collaborative initiative between HSE University – St. Petersburg and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). The publication was authored by Magdalena Gaete, Head of the Laboratory for Reputation Management in Education at HSE University – St. Petersburg, and Khaliyana Khalid, Deputy Dean for Research, Innovation and Development at the Azman Hashim International Business School, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.
The book presents the findings of the first comparative study of social entrepreneurship in Russia and Malaysia. It examines the development of the sector in both countries, including regulatory frameworks, support ecosystems, and approaches to creating social impact.
The English-language edition, "Bridging Horizons: Social Entrepreneurship in Malaysia and Russia", was previously presented in Malaysia during events held within the framework of the Russia–Malaysia Intergovernmental Commission. Copies of the book were presented to Valery Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, and Anesi Ibrahim, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia.
The release of the Russian-language edition makes the research findings accessible to a wider audience of scholars, educators, students, and practitioners interested in social entrepreneurship. Publishing the book in two languages strengthens international academic dialogue and supports the exchange of knowledge and best practices in the fields of social innovation and sustainable development.
During the presentation, a display copy of the book was signed by Anna Tyshetskaya, First Vice Rector of HSE University and Director of HSE University – St. Petersburg. One of the signed copies will be sent to Malaysia as a symbol of the ongoing partnership between the two universities and their commitment to future collaborative research initiatives.
