Presentation of the research results of the Strategic Entrepreneurship Center by Professor Shirokova on November 24 at 14:00 online
On November 24, 2025, at 14:00, as a part of the HSE Expert Discussion Forum, Professor Galina Shirokova will present the research results of the Strategic Entrepreneurship Center on the topic "The role of the executive personality in the development of entrepreneurial and innovative behavior of the company."
The personality of a leader significantly influences the survival and development of a business, its innovation activity, and the creation of competitive advantages (Colombo & Grilli, 2017). Businesses depend on the personal qualities of their managers, which can contribute to either the growth or decline of the company (Lee, 2019).
Of particular interest is the concept of the Dark Triad – narcissism, Machiavellianism, and psychopathy – traits that are associated with socially undesirable behavior. The dark triad has negative social consequences – aggression, difficulties in interpersonal relationships, and a tendency to antisocial strategies (Muris et al., 2017). However, features of the Dark Triad are often found in top managers of successful companies (Gilson & Davis, 2020; Hmieleski & Lerner, 2016). These managers may be gifted in strategic management, using their qualities to manipulate and achieve goals (Furnham et al., 2013).
Thus, the influence of the personality of a leader, including their complex psychological characteristics, requires in-depth study in the context of the entrepreneurial and innovative behavior of companies.
