Lecturer and PhD Student from the Department of Finance Participates in the ATRS World Conference in Beijing

At the conference, Boris presented the paper “Antecedents of Airport Resilience to Shocks: A Systematic Literature Review.” The study forms part of his doctoral research and seeks to systematise the existing understanding of the organisational, financial, infrastructural, and institutional factors that determine airports’ ability to withstand crises, adapt to external changes, and restore their operations.
The discussion following the presentation provided valuable comments and recommendations from international researchers, helped identify promising directions for further work, and offered new perspectives on several aspects of the study. The conference also provided an opportunity to meet researchers working in air transport economics and management, exchange research experience, and discuss possibilities for future academic collaboration.
Participation in the conference marked an important stage in the development of the doctoral research and provided an opportunity to represent the Department of Finance of HSE University in St Petersburg at an international academic event. The intensive academic programme was complemented by the opportunity to explore Beijing and learn more about its history and culture, making the trip both professionally valuable and particularly memorable.
Boris Lodiagin
“I am very pleased to have participated in the ATRS conference for the second year in a row: last year it was held in Hong Kong, and this year in Beijing. Gradually, these trips are becoming more than isolated events for me and are turning into a regular part of my engagement with the international academic community. It was especially nice to meet again the researchers I first got to know last year, as well as to establish new contacts. With several PhD students from universities in different countries, our communication has already become not only professional but almost friendly: we have met several times and have stayed in touch on social media since the Hong Kong conference. I received many useful comments on my work, which will help me further develop both the systematic literature review and the empirical part of the research. I hope that I will have another opportunity to participate in ATRS next year.”
