The Department of Finance was created on the basis of the Department of Financial Markets which was founded in 1998 and is the oldest in the campus. The staff have a broad spectrum of research interests including problems of corporate finance, financial markets and institutions, risk, corporate tax planning, accounting and audits and innovation.

The Guest lecture took place as a part of the Financial analysis course. It was held by a highly professional and experienced person - the former auditor of the Big four and the current Chief internal auditor of an interesting and effective Russian IT company Nanosoft (https://nanosoft.pro/) Ekaterina Nikitina.
The course is dedicated to studies of financial statements, how do we read them, what information do we get from them and how do we use it – in other words how do we analyze financial information of a company in order make financial decisions. The course is based upon case studies of large businesses of different industries. This year we also managed to get understanding of a very demanded, fast developing, supported by government and perspective nowadays IT sector.
Nanosoft is rapidly developing – from 2021 it managed to more than double its sales, reach gross margin of 70% and net profit 51%, in 2025 be ready for IPO! The company went a pass from an average company to a public, well organized, ready for investments business, for that it did a great job to increase the level of Russian accounting, set up corporate governance, internal controls and internal audit, apply International financial reporting standards (IFRS), report the first adopted statements and audit them within the former Big four auditor, prepare and issue the IPO prospect (Initial public offering) and is ready to start selling its shares on the market. And the company has a lot to propose to its future shareholders – high margins, high liquidity and high dividends.
We were lucky to listen to the story from the person who is on the edge of all these events. And during analysis of the statements being able to ask questions from the one who is inside of a company and understand how information from the financial statements can be enriched when you have the opportunity to get internal feedback.
In conclusion we discussed interesting steps and difficulties of the audit career and usefulness of IFRS knowledge. We thank our guest for cooperation!
