Mask use and social distancing
The New Academic Year at HSE University — St. Petersburg
All students and graduate students will be allowed to take offline classes at the university, except for those in isolation due to illness or contact with a coronavirus infection.
It is important to remember that all students attending offline classes must follow the established sanitary and epidemiological requirements: social distance, mask use, hands sanitation, and other guidelines. Here we wanted to talk more about the importance of mask use.
Beginning September 1, all employees and students are required to wear masks or respirators that cover their mouths and noses on the HSE buildings. The use of scarves, handkerchiefs or other items instead of a mask or respirator is not permitted.
An exception is made only for:
- teachers who lecture in large classrooms;
- employees and trainees during creative activities;
- employees when they are in their offices;
- students in dorm rooms.
If a student forgets his or her mask, a new disposable mask will be available at the security desk in each building. The temperature will also be measured at the entrance to university buildings — employees and students without masks or with high body temperature will not be allowed in the buildings.
If a student fails to follow the mask guidelines, it may result in disciplinary action. An employee or security representative will record the violation in a service note and issue a notice for the violator to provide a letter of explanation.
A letter of explanation must be sent to the Head of Unit for Extracurricular Activites Sofia Timofeeva by e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org within 3 working days from the notice receive (the day the notice was issued is not included in 3 days term).
