HSE - St. Petersburg and Yerevan State University Build a Student Bridge
At the end of December 2016, Yerevan State University, Armenia, hosted the Higher School of Economics in St. Petersburg.
During this visit, both institutions signed an agreement opening a double-degree master’s programme embracing the "Master in Models in Financial Economic Systems" at YSU and the "Master in Applied Economics and Mathematical Methods" at HSE St. Petersburg. This document was signed by both the rector of Yerevan State University, Aram Simonyan, and Deputy Director of the Higher School of Economics in St. Petersburg, Natalia Chicherina.
Under the agreement, YSU students who enrol in both programmes will spend their fist year in Yerevan and the second academic year in St. Petersburg, studying Applied Economics and Mathematical Methods at HSE. A pilot version of this project is already being implemented, and four students are already scheduled to arrive from Yerevan State University to HSE in 2017, with plans to increase this number over the next few years.
HSE - St. Petersburg and Yerevan State University are natural partners, as YSU is renowned for its mathematics and economics departments, boasts a knowledge student body, and produces top-tier graduates who go on to fill prestigious positions globally.
The Yerevan State University students who are planning to come to HSE – St. Petersburg had the opportunity to communicate with Dr Sergei Slobodyan, Academic Supervisor of the “Applied Economics and Mathematical Methods”, during a meeting to discuss this project, the themes of their future master’s theses, and other future plans.
