Nguyen Thi Truong Giang, Vice Rector of the Academy of Journalism and Communication, headed the delegation. The leading university in the sphere of media, journalism, and political communications trains specialists in 16 areas of studies.

'The effectiveness of the projects currently being undertaken by HSE University and higher education institutions in Vietnam once again proves the benefits of a closer relationship between the countries. We are going to stick to this course and want to contribute to the development of academic ties with Russia, so we offer to discuss possible partnership formats', underscored Nguyen Thi Truong Giang.

As Anna Tyshetskaya, Chief Vice President of HSE University, highlighted, the partnership with the academy opens up new opportunities for the development of academic and research partnerships between Russia and Vietnam.

HSE University cooperates with leading Vietnamese universities primarily in the sphere of economics, business, and finance. The discussion of cooperation formats with the academy is of special importance for HSE University–St Petersburg in view of launching a new division—the School of Media. Today's negotiations will doubtless form the basis for joint initiatives in journalism and communications.

During the business meeting with the Vietnamese delegation, Alla Akhmadullina, Director of the School of Media, underscored the special importance of global experience exchange.

'We know that modern media education is impossible without a broad academic and professional dialogue, so we see big potential in joint work with international partners. Our educational programmes, research agenda, and practical focus create natural touch points for experience exchange and the development of joint educational programmes and research projects in the sphere of digital ecosystems, media economics and digital communications.

Partnership with colleagues from Vietnam will allow us to expand the professional opportunities at the school and launch a global exchange of experience in media production,' commented Alla Akhmadullina.

Examples of how student media initiatives are carried out were covered in a presentation by Diana Abramian, Project Head at the Youth Policy Office. She presented MediaLAB, an extracurricular organisation which engages in video shooting, production, and photo, video, and audio support for university events. 'We introduce students to the full cycle of content production and help them to familiarise themselves with the profession even if their specialisation is not related to media. The necessary technical equipment is provided by the Audiovisual Technology Centre, which supervises the activities of MediaLAB and provides students with modern AV systems and multimedia classrooms,' shared Diana. The presentation finished with a speech by Danil Hazigaliev, fourth-year student of the International Bachelor's Programme in Business and Economics. Danil showed the guests a film about the academic mission to Vietnam, which he prepared as part of MediaLAB's activities.

At the meeting, the participants discussed opportunities for launching exchange programmes for students and academic staff lasting from one-to-two weeks to one-to-two months and organising the work of a joint research group. In the short time, the parties agreed to exchange information about research fellows and prepare a plan for participation in international conferences in an online format. Moreover, HSE University–St Petersburg and the Academy of Journalism and Communication intend to sign a memorandum of understanding.

'Russia and Vietnam are connected by a long-lasting friendship, which, we believe, we should maintain and enhance. We see the enthusiasm of our HSE colleagues as a good sign. We are sure that in the future, relations between the universities will become only deeper,' summed up the vice rector of the academy.
