HSE University–St Petersburg to Open Call for Academic Mobility to Universities Worldwide
Starting from September 1, HSE University–St Petersburg students can apply for academic mobility to universities worldwide. For the spring semester 2027, there are more than 50 universities available in 21 countries: from Brazil to Japan. Read on to learn everything about the contest rules.
To spend a semester or a year at a partner university, you must fill out and submit an application. There are two ways to do it: participate in campus or all-university contests. The first one is held twice a year—in September and February. The second is held each semester in three stages.
The autumn academic mobility programme offers 90 places for HSE University–St Petersburg students. Some of them will go to the Mexican university UPAEP, Xiamen University Malaysia, and one of the largest private design universities in France—École Intuit Lab. The contest is open to bachelor's students starting from the second year of study and master's students starting from the second module of the first year. Among the key selection criteria are high academic performance, an English language proficiency of B2+, and no failed exams. Extracurricular and academic achievements such as volunteering, working as a curator, and participation in conferences give extra points.
To apply to one of HSE's partner universities, students must prepare a set of documents: an official application, an individual curriculum, a motivation letter, an expense form, and confirmation of language proficiency.

You should actively supplement your portfolio starting from your first year, as extracurricular and research activities give extra points and significantly increase your chances of getting a place. Try to include all your achievements and do not leave the document preparation to the last minute—this is especially true of your curriculum, as it takes time to be approved.
Carefully study the information on the website and social media pages of the International Office; there is a full list of documents and advice on how to pass the selection process successfully. Apart from traditional internships, HSE students can join double-degree programmes. If a student wants to study at a university with which HSE University doesn't have a partnership agreement, they can cover the educational fees themselves and go as a free-mover.
HSE students also regularly develop their expertise at international summer and winter schools in China, India, Brazil, and Morocco. Participation in them allows students to establish professional contacts and discover up-to-date research methodologies and the approaches of other countries.
