HSE University Opens First Representative Office of Satellite Laboratory in Brazil
HSE University-St Petersburg opened a representative office of the Satellite Laboratory on Social Entrepreneurship at the University of Campinas in Brazil. The platform is going to unite research and educational projects in the spheres of sustainable development, communications and social innovations.
The representative office of the Satellite Laboratory on Social Entrepreneurship in Brazil is the first international research platform of HSE University in the form of a 'living laboratory'. The centre will bring together researchers from Russia and Brazil to implement projects in the sphere of sustainable development.
The opening of the representative office is a result of the systematic work of HSE University in Latin American countries. In 2023, the delegation from St Petersburg held the first large economic mission in the countries of the region. The main outcome is the launch of the Latin American track. HSE University has become the first Russian university to offer a Spanish-taught track.
In 2024, researchers from HSE University-St Petersburg visited around ten leading universities in the region to find new cooperation directions. The academic mission in 2025 contributed to the expansion of scientific and exchange programmes with the universities of Mexico, Peru, Chile, Brazil and Argentina.

The University of Campinas is one of the leading universities in Brazil in the sphere of artificial intelligence, sustainable development and social projects. It is included in the top 3 of the Latin American region in the QS World Ranking.
At the representative office at the University of Campinas, the parties are planning to conduct satellite research on social entrepreneurship, measure public influence and develop the metrics to assess sustainable development in BRICS countries. HSE students will be able to participate in the field work of social enterprises and non-profit organisations—the University of Campinas will provide personal scholarships for young researchers.

'The representative office at UNICAMP gives access to new practices of the Global South and BRICS countries, where social entrepreneurship is developing according to the special institutional logics.
