MP "Finance" Students Took 2nd Place at the CFA Association Russia Competition
Students of School of Economics and Management, a team of five graduate students, won the prize at the financial modelling competition from the CFA Association Russia.
The task of the teams at the CFA Russia Challenge is to conduct research in the Equity Research format — to assess the investment attractiveness and fair value of shares of a public joint–stock company chosen by the organisers.
This year, the competitors had to assess the market value of Henderson, one of the leaders in the men's clothing market.
The team of the School of Economics and Management conducted qualitative research and reached the final of the competition.
In the final round of the competition, the HSE St. Petersburg team demonstrated outstanding results: the jury awarded it the same number of points as the winners. However, according to the rules, the first place went to the team that was ahead of the key evaluation criteria. Despite this, the second place is a significant achievement, reflecting the professionalism, teamwork and deep knowledge of the students.
The team from the HSE St. Petersburg consisted of:
— Anastasiia Tuzhikova (MP Finance, 1st year)
— Danila Zhitnikov (MP Finance, 1st year)
— Egor Solntsev (MP Finance, 1st year)
— Pavel Skuchelyas (MP Finance, 1st year)
— Yurii Burchanov (MP Finance, 1st year)
The preparation of the team was led by Vladislav Afanasev, associate professor of the Department of Finance of SEM, who has repeatedly led student teams to victories in prestigious competitions. Thanks to his experience and mentoring, SEM teams have traditionally won prizes at the CFA competition, confirming the high level of students' training in financial analysis and modelling.
Congratulations to the team and their mentor on a brilliant result and wish them further success!
