Double Degree track with ESSCA Graduate School of Management for Masters in Finance

HSE St Petersburg and ESSCA (Ecole Supérieure des Sciences Commerciales d'Angers) have signed an agreement on a double degree track

Prof. Elena Rogova, the Dean of St Petersburg of Economics and Management, highlights the new opportunities for students.

The collaboration between HSE St Petersburg and  ESSCA has started in 2012, and the idea of creating a double degree track had appeared, but due to the legislative restrictions, it was delayed. In 2017, the negotiations on double degree track resumed and finalized with this agreement.

With 10 campuses in 4 countries, ESSCA is among 5% of "triple crowned" business schools (schools with three major international accreditations - AACSBEQUIS и AMBA.) It is recognised not only in France but worldwide.

Master programme «Finance» already has a double degree track with с UCL (University College London), but it is a one-way track (first, students apply to UCL and then choose our school as a destination for the second year).

Unlike this, the double degree with ESSCA will be a two-way programme, Russian students will go to France in the spring semester of the 1st year and stay there till the end of the fall semester of the second year. Between the semesters, they can pass an internship in ESSCA partner companies. They also can go back home in summer and pass the internship later. French students will come to Russia during their second year, so French and Russian students will know each other. This makes the programme very distinctive on those which are commonly existing at the market.

it is worth noting that our students may choose their programme in ESSCA from two: Banking and Financial Engineering in Paris, or "Corporate Finance" in Angers.

The study plan of French programmes includes many case studies, teamwork and courses where business practitioners are involved. Students will have a chance to learn modern financial practices from European specialists.

Also, students are encouraged to study the second foreign language. Besides French, ESSCA proposes courses of German or Spanish languages.

After coming bake to the host university, students will defend their theses under the double supervision of professors from partner universities. Professors from ESSCA will participate in oral defenses of Russian students.

The number of participants is limited to three students from each side. For Russian students, the first selection will be made this year. The selection is a merit-based one, considering the academic progress of students. The students will not pay a tuition fee but should be ready to cover their travel and living costs while staying in France.
