As Part of the New Course on Mergers and Acquisitions, a Guest Lecture by Ivan Skavysh, a Member of the Board of Directors of CFA Russia, Took Place in the Second Year of Finance MP

On November 29, Ivan Skavysh, a member of the Board of Directors of CFA Russia, an expert in the field of investment banking and corporate finance, delivered a speech for students of the MP "Finance". Ivan told the Master’s students about his career in investment banking and the specifics of working on M&A transactions.  

The lecture was devoted to three key blocks:

- the essence of investment banking;

- career prospects (including the pros and cons of the profession, barriers to entry and opportunities for further development);

- analysis of the M&A transaction case from the position of an investment banker.

The students learned about the work of investment banks, the typical hierarchy in investment banks, and the challenges they will face in different positions. Ivan also shared insights about what skills and qualities are valued by employers: not only strong hard skills, but also the ability to work under high pressure and stress.

Also, as part of the lecture, the case for the sale of the company was analyzed. Ivan shared life hacks when compiling investment materials and talked about different scenarios for working on the same M&A project.
