US Professor Speaks on Shifting Identities of Russian Repatriates from China
On September 5, Laurie Manchester, Associate Professor of History at Arizona State University, presented her paper on voluntary repatriation of Russians from China to the Soviet Union between 1935 and 1960. The presentation was part of the research seminar, ‘Boundaries of History’, held regularly by the Department of History at HSE University in St. Petersburg. HSE News Service spoke with Laurie Manchester about her research interests, collaborating with HSE faculty members, and the latest workshop.

HSE Places Second Among Russian Universities in THE Humanities Ranking
HSE University improved its performance from last year, entering the Top-200 of the Times Higher Education (THE) subject ranking in Arts and Humanities. We now place second among Russian universities and have the best results of the participants of the Russian Academic Excellence Project 5-100.

HSE Entered the Top 250 Graduate Universities in the World Ranking
The Higher School of Economics moved into a higher rating range for graduate employment (201-250) for the first time in five years, surpassing more powerful competitors. This year, the number of applicants for getting into the rating increased by 15% (758 universities) while 36 new universities entered the ranking.

HSE's New Achievements in World Rankings: THE WUR Completes 2019 World Ranking Marathon
THE WUR ranking - the overall ranking of the best universities in the world - completed the publication of world ratings in 2019. HSE showed successful dynamics of its results and moved to a new and higher position of 251-300, taking third place among Russian universities after Moscow State University (189) and Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (201-250).

Student Research Paper Competition Launched at HSE
HSE accepts applications for the annual student research competition. Students of other Russian universities, as well as foreign universities, can participate in it. The papers are accepted in Russian and English, applications can be submitted until October 15.
