‘Big Data Analysis for Business, Economy, and Society’ is a two-year Master’s programme, which offers students advanced instruction in probabilistic, statistical and computational methods for working with large datasets. 

The programme combines fundamental training in modern engineering mathematics, statistics and machine learning, as well as methods for analyzing unstructured data (text, networking, images, etc.), with advanced courses in economic models, simulation of complex social systems, and predictive models for marketing and finance. Furthermore, a strong emphasis is placed on practical work with software for distributed data analysis and projects that bring together students of various backgrounds.

HSE Enters Top-250 in THE Best Universities in Europe for 2017

On June 21, 2017, Times Higher Education (THE) published its ranking of the best universities in Europe 2017, in which HSE, along with St. Petersburg State University, Novosibirsk State University, National Research Nuclear University MEPhI and Kazan Federal University, is ranked in the 201-250 group. 

HSE Success in Research Performance Rankings in 8 Subject Areas

HSE has been ranked one of the top 15 universities by research performance in 8 subject areas, compiled by the Expert Analytical Centre in 2016. HSE took the first place in three subjects: Economics, Social Sciences and Humanities.

HSE Campuses in Moscow and St. Petersburg Admitted to QTEM

On March 10, 2017, the HSE campuses in Moscow and St. Petersburg were admitted to QTEM, an international network of the world’s leading business schools. This means that every year the 20 best management and finance MA students from both campuses will benefit from a range of network member opportunities, and after they graduate from their programme at their home university, will receive a prestigious QTEM graduate certificate. 

HSE Enters 13 QS Subject Rankings

The Higher School of Economics has made it onto 13 subject and two broader subject rankings in the QS World University Ranking thanks to the university’s achievements as part of the 5-100 Project. In addition, HSE was in the top 100 ranking for three areas – Economics and Econometrics, Politics and International Studies, and Sociology – and it was the only Russian school in the Accounting & Finance 101-150 ranking. As for total number of subject area rankings, HSE was third in Russia after only Moscow State University and St. Petersburg State University.

New Call for Fall 2017 Open

The new Call for the international student mobility within university-wide agreements in Fall 2017 is open from February 6 to March 5.

Training on Machine Learning at HSE

On January 21 and 28 were held the first two training sessions on machine learning at HSE St. Petersburg. The event was organized by the members of community “Open Data Science”, who also held regular trainings in Moscow, Yekaterinburg and Odessa. The event was open to anyone interested and pre-registered.

HSE Saint Petersburg Signed Two Cooperation Agreements

At the third annual conference ‘Education and Global Cities: Horizons for Contemporary University’ two cooperation agreements were signed.
